Captain items are specialists that can be equipped on ships to provide various bonuses. Each ship has one captain slot.

Captain items can also be unlocked via research:
- **Economy Specialist:** Trade and finance-focused captains
- **Civil Specialist:** Civilian bonuses
- **Military Specialist:** Combat-focused captains

### Hall of Fame

Some unique captains are rewards from the Hall of Fame achievement system.
